The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the world has topped 5 million people.

As many as 5,000,561 laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 cases had been reported as of the morning of May 21, according to the Coronavirus COVID-19 Global Cases dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University.

The overall death toll is 328,191 people, while 1,899,675 coronavirus patients have already recovered.

The highest death toll was recorded in the United States (93,439 people), the United Kingdom (35,786), Italy (32,330), France (28,135), Spain (27,888), and Brazil (18,859).

The countries most affected by the coronavirus pandemic include the United States (1,551,853 confirmed cases), Russia (308,705), Brazil (291,579), Great Britain (249,619), Spain (232,555), Italy (227,364), France (181,700), Germany (178,473), and Turkey (152,587).
