The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the world exceeded 17.6 million patients as of August 1.

As many as 17,601,361 laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 cases had been reported as of 11:35 on August 1, according to the Coronavirus COVID-19 Global Cases dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University.

The overall death toll is 679,600 people, while 10,342,362 coronavirus patients have already recovered.

The highest death toll was recorded in the United States (153,314 people), Brazil (92,475), Mexico (46,688), the United Kingdom (46,204), India (36,511), Italy (35,141), and France (30,268).

The countries most affected by the coronavirus pandemic include the United States (4,562,170 confirmed cases), Brazil (2,662,485), India (1,695,988), Russia (843,890), South Africa (493,183), Mexico (424,637), Peru (407,492), Chile (355,667), the United Kingdom (304,800), and Iran (304,204).

As many as 188 countries have been affected by the virus.
