The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the world exceeded 22.9 million patients as of August 22.

As many as 22,959,813 laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 cases had been reported as of 11:27 on August 22, according to the Coronavirus COVID-19 Global Cases dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University.

The overall death toll is 799,486 people, while 14,722,231 coronavirus patients have already recovered.

The highest death toll was recorded in the United States (175,409 people), Brazil (113,358), Mexico (59,610), India (55,794), the United Kingdom (41,491), Italy (35,427), and France (30,508).

The countries most affected by the coronavirus pandemic include the United States (5,623,990 confirmed cases), Brazil (3,532,330), India (2,975,701), Russia (949,531), South Africa (603,338), Peru (567,059), Mexico (549,734), and Colombia (522,138).

As many as 188 countries have been affected by the virus.
