The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the world exceeded 23.9 million patients as of August 26.

As many as 23,903,870 laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 cases had been reported as of 09:28 on August 26, according to the Coronavirus COVID-19 Global Cases dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University.

The highest death toll was recorded in the United States (178,524 people), Brazil (116,580), Mexico (61,450), India (58,449), the United Kingdom (41,535), Italy (35,445), and France (30,549).

The countries most affected by the coronavirus pandemic include the United States (5,779,371 confirmed cases), Brazil (3,669,995), India (3,234,474), Russia (963,655), South Africa (613,017), Peru (600,438), Mexico (568,621), and Colombia (562,113).

As many as 188 countries have been affected by the virus.
