The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the world exceeded 13.8 million patients as of July 17.

As many as 13,808,625 laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 cases had been reported as of 08:35 on July 17, according to the Coronavirus COVID-19 Global Cases dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University.

The overall death toll is 589,978 people, while 7,716,636 coronavirus patients have already recovered.

The highest death toll was recorded in the United States (138,358 people), Brazil (76,688), the United Kingdom (45,204), Mexico (37,574), Italy (35,017), and France (30,141).

The countries most affected by the coronavirus pandemic include the United States (3,576,221 confirmed cases), Brazil (2,012,151), India (1,003,832), Russia (751,612), Peru (341,586), South Africa (324,221), Mexico (324,041), Chile (323,698), the United Kingdom (294,116), Iran (267,061), Pakistan (259,999), Spain (258,855), and Italy (243,736).

As many as 188 countries have been affected by the virus.
