Lavrov: It's Putin to decide on Savchenko swap

"We hear of proposals as for the swap, and the issue will be considered in full accordance with the Russian legislation, a decision is to be taken by the head of state," Lavrov said after talks with his German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Moscow on Wednesday, TASS wrote.

Steinmeier in turn told reporters after the talks were over that he hoped for a "humanitarian solution" in the Savchenko case but he could not say anything about possible mediation.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the Kremlin did not confirm a statement by Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko that his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin had allegedly promised to release or exchange Savchenko after her trial in Russia.
