Zakharchenko’s claim, made on December 25 at a press conference in Donetsk came fast on the heels of an interview published in a Russian newspaper Komsomolskaya Pravda with an anonymous Ukrainian airbase employee who said that a pilot of Ukrainian SU-25 military jet, Vladislav Voloshin, had downed the MH17.

Both ‘revelations’ raise question marks why these witnesses didn't come forward sooner with such claims, Ukraine Today reports.

Numerous bizarre conspiracy theories about the MH17 and “evidence” later proved to be fake have been circulating in Russian media since the accident. At the same time, Russian militant leader Igor Girkin, aka Strelkov, wrote on social media VK that militants had shot down what they thought was an AN-26 Ukrainian aircraft, with the post being taken down soon after.
