Unemployment in Ukraine climbs to 1.9% in December

There were 490,800 registered unemployed people as of January 1, 2015 with 398,200 of them being paid unemployment benefits, the statistics service said.

The average monthly unemployment benefit in December grew to UAH 1,444 (or $58.61 at the current forex rate) per capita from UAH 1,357 ($55.08) in November.

The report does not include data from temporarily occupied territory of Crimea and Sevastopol, and Donbas, the east of Ukraine.

The unemployment rate in Ukraine in 2015 was expected to grow to 11.5%.
