Gannitskiy Mikhail
The chief editor of the UNIAN news agency
He is engaged in journalism for over 20 years and began to lead his first team of journalists as a teenager. In 2001 he was just 16 years old when he headed the news department at the regional television and radio company "Ildana" (local department of the "Inter" network in Cherkasy region). That's why Mikhail jokes that his first employee was precisely three times older than his boss. One of the cameramen was 48 at that time. He simultaneously worked at the television and after moving to Kyiv at prominent in Ukraine newspapers "Gazeta Po-kievski" and "Segodnia." At the same time, he studied at Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University's Institute of Journalism (and, after that, tuned up his skills at the educational project Digital Future of Journalism at the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy). In due time he participated in the creation and launching of the popular web-portal "Segodnia.UA" (he also led the editorial board of the portal) and the men magazine "Fighter's". He became a columnist of numerous popular Ukrainian papers and web-media. Mikhail Gannytskyi joined UNIAN in 2011 and then, in 2012, became the chief of the agency's strong creative team.
He can't live without music and traveling. He is a certified CPR specialist and rescue diver, a Master Scuba Diver certified by PADI, a skydiver and firearms enthusiast, and an active supporter for the acquisition by all Ukrainians of the real right to self-defense. He is a member of the Ukrainian National Union of Journalists.
