Kyiv authorities mulling over halt of flights with countries suffering coronavirus spread
Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko has asked Ukraine's Infrastructure Ministry and the management of Boryspil International Airport to halt flights between Ukraine and countries with a significant coronavirus spread.
"We are doing our utmost to prevent the spread of the disease in Kyiv and Ukraine. Airports are the gateway to our country and one of the first filters to prevent [the entry of] infected people. The termination of flights with countries where the epidemic is spreading today is required to minimize the likelihood of a coronavirus outbreak both in Kyiv and across the country," he wrote on Facebook on March 13.
The official said he had addressed the Infrastructure Ministry and the management of Boryspil International Airport with relevant request.
As UNIAN reported earlier, on March 11, Klitschko announced that mass events and the educational process would be temporarily limited in Kyiv from March 12 to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
