Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko has said the number of confirmed coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in the city rose by 116 in the past day.

"In the past day, another 116 residents of Kyiv tested positive for the coronavirus," he said on Telegram on July 16.

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the city is 6,613.

According to Klitschko, 62 women aged 21 to 86 and 50 men aged 18 to 81 are among those infected. In addition, two girls (15 and 17 years old) and two boys (six and eight years old) tested positive for the coronavirus.

Klitschko said 27 new patients had been hospitalized, while the rest were self-isolating, undergoing treatment at home under the supervision of doctors.

The highest number of the new cases in Kyiv was registered in Darnytsky district (21), Desniansky district (20), and Holosiyivsky district (18).

As UNIAN reported earlier, 848 new cases of the novel coronavirus COVID-19 were reported in Ukraine in the past day, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 56,455 as of the morning of July 16.
