Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko has said the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the city rose by 50 in the past day.

"In the past day, the number of Kyiv residents who tested positive [for the coronavirus] increased by 50, including 12 healthcare workers. Two cases were fatalities. As of today, there are 1,771 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 34 deaths, in the capital city," he wrote on Facebook on May 9.

According to Klitschko, 21 women aged 34 to 76 and 26 men aged 17 to 79 are among those infected. In addition, one seven-year-old girl and two 17-year-old boys tested positive for the coronavirus.

Klitschko said 22 new patients had been hospitalized, while the rest were self-isolating, undergoing treatment at home under the supervision of doctors.

Seven people recovered from the disease in the past day, he said. In total, 134 Kyiv residents have already recovered from the coronavirus.
