Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko has said the number of confirmed coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in the city rose by 78 in the past day.

"In the past day, another 78 residents of Kyiv tested positive for the coronavirus, including two healthcare workers," he said on Facebook on July 5.

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the city is 5,543.

Klitschko said 13 new patients had been hospitalized, while the rest were self-isolating, undergoing treatment at home under the supervision of doctors.

Thirty-two people recovered from the disease in the past day, he said.

In total, 1,802 Kyiv residents have already recovered.

The highest number of the new cases in Kyiv was registered in Desniansky district (12), Obolonsky district (11), and Dniprovsky and Podilsky district (10).

As UNIAN reported earlier, some 823 new cases of the novel coronavirus COVID-19 were reported in Ukraine in the past day, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 48,500 as of the morning of July 5.
