Ukrainian Deputy Health Minister and Chief Medical Officer Viktor Liashko has said the coronavirus-related quarantine in Ukraine will last until June 22.
"Now we are monitoring Poland's dynamics – a scenario that is most similar to ours, we are similar in the number of tests. Therefore, we will be reaching a plateau. But we can't guess it in terms of seasonality. We don't understand how the virus will behave under our conditions in summer. The fact is that we say that we will extend the quarantine until June 22, but it will be adaptive with easing measures, everything will depend on the epidemiological situation," he said during a morning TV show "Snidanok z 1+1" on May 19, as reported by the Ukrainian TSN TV news service.
Liashko also said that the quarantine could be canceled prematurely in the event of a rapid decrease in the number of new cases.
As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said Ukraine would be switching to an "adaptive quarantine" option from May 22. It foresees that curbs will be lifted gradually. In particular, public transportation and commuter services will be relaunched from May 22, kindergartens and subways will reopen from May 25. Hotels and churches will work with some restrictions, sports events will be allowed without attendance. However, hostels, restaurants in hotels, swimming pools will remain closed.
