Kyiv's Shevchenkivsky district court chose a preventive measure for Head of the Ukrainian "Officer Corps" center for the exchange of prisoners of war Volodymyr Ruban, who was detained in Donbas on March 8, having ruled to sentence him to 60-day imprisonment without bail.

Thus, the judge granted the investigator's request agreed with the military prosecutor's office. After that, the court session was closed.

The court's decision may be appealed within five days.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Head of the Ukrainian "Officer Corps" center for the exchange of prisoners of war Volodymyr Ruban was detained on the contact line with the so-called "Donetsk People's Republic" at the Maiorsk checkpoint in Donetsk region on March 8. It was reported he tried to transport a huge arsenal of weapons from the occupied territory to Ukraine.

According to the text of suspicion, Ruban is charged with the preparation of a terrorist act and the illegal possession of weapons. In addition, he is suspected of plotting an assassination of the president of Ukraine, as well as top officials in Kyiv.

Ruban has rejected accusations and said he was only a driver, and he knew nothing about the weapons in the car.
