The House of Representatives of the U.S. Congress on Thursday, May 24, approved the allocation of $250 million in 2019 to provide Ukraine with military assistance, including the supply of defensive weapons.

The relevant article was included in the adopted bill on financing and policy of the U.S. Department of Defense for the next year, the Embassy of Ukraine in the USA wrote on Facebook.

In particular, according to the explanatory materials, the project proposes to finance the president's request [Donald Trump's] on Ukraine, including $250 million for lethal weapons.

A similar item of expenditure has already been envisaged in the law on financing and policy of the U.S. Department of Defense in the last few years. In 2018, $200 million was allocated to Ukraine for military assistance, including armament.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine successfully conducted first launches of U.S.-made Javelin antitank missile systems at a military training ground on May 22.
