The European Union expects the Ukrainian authorities to conduct a transparent investigation into the murder of journalist Pavel Sheremet so as to bring those responsible to justice.
"We expect the Ukrainian authorities to conduct a transparent investigation into this crime, so as to bring those responsible to justice. Progress in this case will no doubt be important for public trust in law enforcement institutions," the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine wrote on Facebook on July 20.
"Two years ago Ukrainian media community lost one of its most talented and brave journalists – Pavel Sheremet – in a cold-blooded killing. This tragedy remains a source of sadness for his family and many of his colleagues across the region, who continue their vital work," it said.
As UNIAN reported earlier, Andriy Lysenko, the press secretary of the Prosecutor General's Office (PGO) of Ukraine, said over 20 different tests had been conducted as part of an investigation into the murder of Belarusian journalist Pavel Sheremet in the center of Kyiv, some of which were still under way.
