Presidential election in Ukraine to be held March 31, 2019, Poroshenko guarantees
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said he guarantees the timely holding of presidential elections in Ukraine, that is, on March 31, 2019.
"We will protect democracy. We precisely guarantee that presidential elections will take place on March 31, 2019. I emphasize this," he said during a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine on Wednesday, according to an UNIAN correspondent.
As UNIAN reported earlier, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko confirmed termination of martial law in Ukraine on December 26.
A number of president's critics said the very introduction of martial law was aimed to either postpone the elections or gain political points by speculating on the issue of repelling Russian aggression.
