NATO recognizes Ukraine's aspiration to join Alliance, calls for further reforms
The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) recognizes Ukraine's desire to join the Alliance and urges the Ukrainian authorities to continue to implement a wide range of reforms.
"We recognize Ukraine's aspirations to join the Alliance and NATO's solidarity with Ukraine is firm," a NATO official told UNIAN in an exclusive comment on the adoption by the Ukrainian parliament of amendments to the Constitution regarding the strategic course towards full membership in the EU and NATO.
"We welcome the progress achieved in implementing reforms, and we encourage Ukraine to continue its reform path. This is crucial for prosperity and peace in Ukraine and for stability across the Euro-Atlantic area," the official said.
As reported by UNIAN, the Verkhovna Rada on February 7 adopted a draft law amending the Constitution of Ukraine regarding the strategic course of the state to acquire full membership of Ukraine in the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.
