On Aug 7, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called Russian leader Vladimir Putin on the phone in the wake of yesterday's attack on Ukrainian forces in Donbas that took lives of four Marines.
The statement came as Zelensky was speaking at a Wednesday briefing in Kyiv following an emergency meeting held with General Staff Chief Ruslan Khomchak, NSDC Secretary Oleksandr Danyliuk, and Army commanders.
"Earlier this morning, I spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin. I asked him to influence the other side so that they stopped killing our people," Zelensky said.
As UNIAN reported earlier, President Zelensky urged the Normandy Four leaders to meet as soon as possible amid the latest escalation in Donbas.
