The Verkhovna Radа, Ukraine's parliament, has appointed Deputy Head of the President's Office Vadym Prystaiko as Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

The relevant decision was backed by 310 MPs registered in the session hall, according to an UNIAN correspondent.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky nominated Prystaiko for the post of the country's foreign minister.

UNIAN memo. Prystaiko is a Ukrainian diplomat. In 2012 – 2014, he was Ambassador of Ukraine to Canada. In 2014 – 2017, Prystaiko held positions of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chief of Staff of the Ministry, and First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The diplomat has been head of the Mission of Ukraine to NATO since 2017.

Prystaiko is a member of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (since May 31, 2019).
