French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian says Ukraine now has a chance of settling the conflict in Donbas.

In particular, the official told Le Figaro that "today, there is a real window of opportunity for resolving the conflict in Ukraine. Such a "chance" might not appear a second time, and Ukraine should take advantage of it, the media outlet wrote on October 14.

High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini earlier said that Ukrainian Foreign Minister Vadym Prystaiko had presented in Luxembourg "a very comprehensive and satisfactory picture of the plans that the government and the administration have on the reform agenda of the country, but also on how to address the conflict in the east of Ukraine."

Mogherini also added that EU Council had seen "some positive developments" of the situation.

Earlier, Prystaiko said that the European Union realized that the implementation of the Steinmeier formula cannot contradict Ukrainian law.

As UNIAN reported, in early October, Ukraine agreed on the text of the Steinmeier formula, which will later be included in the new law on the Donbas status.

After that, protests broke out in the country, as the activists considered the document "surrender" to the Russian Federation.
