National Police created today
On Wednesday, September 2, the Cabinet is creating a new central executive body - National Police, according to Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk.
"According to the law on police, the Cabinet of Ministers today takes a decision on establishing a central executive body, subordinate to the Ministry of Interior. National Police is officially created today," said Yatsenyuk during a government meeting
Yatsenyuk instructed the Finance Ministry to amend the state budget to provide for proper financing of the National Police.
"I am instructing the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine to urgently develop amendments to the law on the state budget for the current year and for 2016. It is about securing funding of law enforcement system, especially of the National Police," said the head of government.
He added that the funds are necessary in order for the brand new police to “take to the streets and protect Ukrainian citizens.”
As UNIAN reported earlier, the Verkhovna Rada adopted the draft law on the national police on July 2, 2015. Ukrainian President Petro President signed the law on August 4.
