Ukraine border guards to control checkpoints together with Russian peers
Chief of the State Border Service of Ukraine Viktor Nazarenko and the acting chairman of the Border Service of Russia have signed a protocol of joint control at the Kuybyshevo-Dyakove checkpoint at the Russian-Ukrainian border.
A corresponding report was delivered by Nazarenko to Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, the presidential press service reported.
What is more, Ukraine and Russia determined mechanisms to establish joint control at the checkpoint between Russian-based Donetsk and Ukrainian-based Izvaryne, as well as at the checkpoint between Matveyev Kurgan and Uspenka.
The document was signed on October 30.
The president in turn instructed the border service's chief to make up a 'road map' with exact timing when Ukraine should regain control of the checkpoints and start customs clearance of freight.
Poroshenko also set November 4 as the deadline for a report by Nazarenko on mobile checkpoints in the buffer zone along the contact line in Donbas to prevent the trespass of Russian-backed terrorists and illegal freight.
