Three suspects in attempt on activist Mykhailyk detained in Odesa – source
Three suspects in the attempt on a public activist, leader of the city organization of the Syla Lyudey (Power of People) party, Oleh Mykhailyk, who received a gunshot wound on September 22, have been detained in Odesa.
As a source in law enforcement agencies of the region told UNIAN, three young men were detained, who, according to preliminary information, are citizens of Georgia. One of them allegedly had a weapon, from which the activist was shot.
Currently, two suspects are in the Primorsky police department, while another one is in City Clinical Hospital No.1, where he was taken from the police due to the deterioration of the state of health.
According to the source, the suspects who deny their involvement in the assassination attempt were tracked down through mobile phones.
The consul of Georgia in Odesa is in the hospital now.
The Main Directorate of the National Policy in Odesa region has refused to comment on this information, referring to the prohibition of the leadership.
As UNIAN reported earlier, a perpetrator shot at Mykhailyk on Osipov Street in Odesa in the evening of September 22. He was rushed to hospital in grave condition.
The police chief said the investigators consider several possible versions of this crime, including those related to Mykhailyk's public and journalistic activities.
