Ukraine is celebrating Navy Day on Sunday. Vessels from the Western naval base of Ukraine's Navy are taking part in the ceremony hosted by Odesa's seaport, according to local news website 048.ua.
Chairman of Odesa Regional State Administration Mikheil Saakashvili, Odesa Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov and Fleet Commander-in-Chief Serhiy Haiduk greeted the Ukrainian sailors on the occasion of Navy Day.
During Navy Day festivities, everyone is able to visit Ukrainian Navy vessels, take part in the festival of the Navy on Prymorskiy Boulevard in Odesa and watch a football match between veterans of Dynamo Kyiv football team and a Ukrainian Navy team.
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko congratulated Navy men and veterans on Navy Day earlier on Sunday.
"In the last year you lived through the hardships of the revival of the fleet at new stationing sites, got prepared for performing combat missions and ensured the marine defense of our country," Poroshenko said.
