Poroshenko: Nine Ukrainian heroes freed from captivity
Nine Ukrainian heroes have been released from militant captivity, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko wrote on Twitter.
"My friends, we have good news - nine Ukrainian Heroes have been released from captivity today. Slava Ukraini! [Glory to Ukraine]," Poroshenko tweeted.
As reported earlier, according to the latest data of the Security Service of Ukraine, 153 Ukrainians, including civilians, are being held captive by the combined Russian-separatist forces.
The exchange of prisoners has recently been suspended, as the parties to the conflict in Donbas have accused each other in disrupting the exchange.
The release and exchange of prisoners is one of the conditions of the Minsk agreements.
