The number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus in Ukraine exceeded 19,700 on Thursday morning.

"According to the Public Health Center, there were 19,706 laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ukraine as of 09:00 Kyiv time on May 21," Ukraine's Health Ministry said on Facebook in its morning update on May 21.

Of them, 476 cases were reported in the past 24 hours.

Now the novel coronavirus was recorded in the following regions: 788 cases in Vinnytsia region; 698 in Volyn region; 856 in Dnipropetrovsk region; 138 in Donetsk region; 589 in Zhytomyr region; 964 in Zakarpattia region; 398 in Zaporizhia region; 1,257 in Ivano-Frankivsk region; 455 in Kirovohrad region; 2,475 in the city of Kyiv; 1,316 in Kyiv region; 1,175 in Lviv region; 43 in Luhansk region; 274 in Mykolayiv region; 806 in Odesa region; 266 in Poltava region; 1,287 in Rivne region; 165 in Sumy region; 1,089 in Ternopil region; 851 in Kharkiv region; 173 in Kherson region; 294 in Khmelnytsky region; 2,842 in Chernivtsi region; 381 in Cherkasy region; 117 in Chernihiv region.

Data from Russia-occupied areas – the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the city of Sevastopol, parts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions – is not available.

COVID-19 tests were conducted by the Public Health Center's virological reference laboratory and regional laboratories. As of the morning of May 21, 2020, the Center had received 1,024 reports of suspected cases. In total, there have been 49,352 reports on suspected COVID-19 since the beginning of 2020.

A total of 579 COVID-19 deaths have already been recorded in the country. Some 6,227 patients have recovered.
