Ukrainian Health Minister Maksym Stepanov says 5,895 children and 9,400 healthcare workers have contracted the coronavirus (COVID-19) since the start of the pandemic.

"In the past day, 1,433 people tested positive for the coronavirus, including 116 children and 65 healthcare workers. Some 288 new patients were hospitalized. There were 19 deaths and 752 recoveries," he said at a briefing on August 12, according to an UNIAN correspondent.
The overall death toll is 1,970 people.
As many as 45,686 patients have already recovered.

The highest number of confirmed cases in the past 24 hours was registered in the capital city of Kyiv (182 cases), Lviv region (166), Kharkiv region (139), Ivano-Frankivsk region (128), and Chernivtsi region (113).
