Ukrainian Health Minister Maksym Stepanov says 5,983 children and 9,392 healthcare workers have contracted the coronavirus (COVID-19) since the start of the pandemic.

"In the past day, 1,592 people tested positive for the coronavirus, including 88 children and 92 healthcare workers. Some 315 new patients were hospitalized. There were 22 deaths and 530 recoveries," he said at a briefing on August 13, according to an UNIAN correspondent.

The overall death toll is 1,992 people.

As many as 46,216 patients have already recovered.


Some 1,592 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed in Ukraine in the past 24 hours as of August 13, 2020.

The highest number of confirmed cases in the past 24 hours was registered in Kharkiv region (209 cases), Lviv region (166), Ivano-Frankivsk region (138), the city of Kyiv (133), Chernivtsi region (130), and Odesa region (114).
