Five Ukrainian soldiers wounded in past day, one of them in critical condition
Five Ukrainian soldiers were wounded in action in the past day, one of them is in a critical condition.
"As a result of enemy shelling on May 8, three soldiers were wounded in action, two more sustained combat-related injuries. They were rushed to hospital. One of them is in a critical condition. Two more members of the Joint Forces are in a moderately grave condition, and the condition of the remaining two is satisfactory," Ukrainian Defense Ministry press secretary Maksym Prauta said at a briefing in Kyiv on Wednesday, May 9, according to an UNIAN correspondent.
In total, the Russian-led forces in occupied Donbas mounted 57 attacks on Ukrainian positions in the past day.
The Russian occupation forces continue to deliberately violate the ceasefire along the contact line and use artillery systems and mortars to shell the Ukrainian Joint Forces' defensive positions.
"In total, there were 57 enemy targeted attacks in the past day. In particular, the occupation forces lobbed over 200 shells of 120mm and 82mm mortars and fired about a hundred 122mm artillery rounds at our defenders," he said.
Prauta also noted that the Ukrainian military had actively defended themselves, using weapons that are not prohibited by the Minsk Agreements, and fired back 30 times.
