Joint Forces Commander Serhiy Nayev said that the Russian invaders are trying to intensify the escalation in the Sea of Azov, and in this context Mariupol direction remains one of the most important ones in the context of creating preconditions for countering Russian aggression.
The statement came as Nayev met in Kyiv with President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, Rasa Juknevičienė, and Ukrainian Parliament Chairman Andriy Parubiy on Friday, the press center of the Joint Forces Operation wrote.

It is noted that the meeting took place within the framework of Juknevičienė's Ukraine visit to get updated on the situation in the JFO zone.
The Commander noted that the Joint Forces have been and remain the main component of ensuring peace and security in Donbas.
As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine's Representative to the international organizations in Vienna, Ihor Prokopchuk, said that Russia was trying to seize larger areas in Ukraine, while continuing to violate the Minsk agreements designed to peacefully resolve the situation in Donbas.
