The number of attacks by Russia-led forces on Ukrainian positions in Donbas, eastern Ukraine, grew to 28 on Friday, June 7, with two Ukrainian soldier killed in action and five wounded in action.

"As a result of enemy shelling, two members of the Joint Forces were killed and five were wounded, while seven members sustained combat-related injuries," the press center of the Joint Forces Operation (JFO) headquarters said on Facebook in its morning update on Saturday, June 8.

Proscribed weapons – 152mm and 122mm artillery systems, 120mm mortars – were used in three instances.

"The enemy was also shelling our defenders from cannons of infantry fighting vehicles, anti-tank missile systems, grenade launchers of various systems, large-caliber machine guns and automatic small arms," the update said.

"Each enemy attack received an adequate response. According to intelligence reports, two invaders were killed and another one was wounded," it said.

Since Saturday midnight, Russia-led forces violated the ceasefire in Donbas only once. "The Joint Forces reliably control the enemy along the contact line, while respecting the conditions of the ceasefire," the JFO HQ said.

Sixteen enemy attacks were reported on June 6.

Large Ukrainian casualties were reported in the In early hours on June 7, when Russia-led forces opened fire from proscribed 122mm artillery systems to attack Ukrainian positions near the village of Novoluhanske. Two soldiers from the Azov military unit, which is part of the National Guard of Ukraine, were killed in that attack, while 11 were reportedly wounded.
