Russia's hybrid military forces on September 16 mounted 23 attacks on Ukrainian Army positions in Donbas, eastern Ukraine, with two Ukrainian soldiers reported as wounded in action on that day; another one was deadly wounded on September 17.

"The armed forces of the Russian Federation and its mercenaries violated the ceasefire 23 times on September 16," the press center of the Joint Forces Operation (JFO) Headquarters said on Facebook in a morning update on Tuesday, September 17. "Two members of the Joint Forces were wounded in enemy shelling yesterday."

Enemy troops opened fire from proscribed 120 mm and 82mm mortars, grenade launchers of various types, and small arms.

Under attack came Ukrainian positions near the towns of Maryinka and Krasnohorivka, and the villages of Pyshchevyk, Pavlopil, Lebedynske, Verkhniotoretske, Vodiane, Opytne, Nevelske, Mykolaivka, Novotroyitske, Luhanske, Novotoshkivske, Novoluhanske, Novhorodske, and Krymske.

From Tuesday midnight, Russia-led forces attacked Ukrainian positions twice near the villages of Novotroyitske and Zalizne, using grenade launchers of various types, the update said.

"One soldier has been wounded fatally while performing a combat mission in the area of the Joint Forces operation today [September 17]," the JFO HQ said on Tuesday, September 17. "A group of representatives of the military law enforcement service of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the military unit is working to clarify the circumstances."
