Russian-backed militants continue firing on the Ukrainian ATO forces, using the weapons banned under the Minsk peace agreement, Presidential Administration Speaker for ATO issues, Colonel Oleksandr Motuzianyk said at a briefing in Kyiv on Sunday, an UNIAN correspondent reported.
According to him, the situation in the ATO zone remains difficult; however, the intensity of firing by militants has insignificantly declined in recent days.
"At the same time, the weapons banned by the Minsk agreements are actively used by militants against the ATO forces," he said.
In the past day, they twice fired on the Ukrainian troops from a tank, while 120mm-caliber mortars were used eight times, and 122mm-caliber artillery systems were used six times.
"Ukrainian soldiers properly repel all the attacks by the enemy," he said.
