On Friday, ATO updates reported that one Ukrainian soldier was killed, five were wounded, another ATO speaker, Andriy Lysenko said on Saturday.
He also disclosed that bodies of Ukrainain soldiers were recovered from under the ruins of the Donetsk airport on Friday. "The bodies were brought to the Donetsk morgue, and they are expected to be transported to the Ukrainian-controlled territory soon," he added.
The fiercest fights for the Donetsk airport between the Ukrainian troops and Russian-backed militants from the so-called Donetsk People's Republic, which started on May 26, 2014, were in January 2015, after which the Ukrainian units had to retreat with heavy losses. The defense of the so-called old and new terminals of the airport by the Ukrainian army lasted for 242 days.
