Russia's hybrid military forces on February 18 mounted 22 attacks on Ukrainian Army positions in Donbas, eastern Ukraine, with one Ukrainian soldier reported as killed in action (KIA) and another six as wounded in action (WIA).
"The armed forces of the Russian Federation violated the ceasefire 22 times on February 18. One Ukrainian soldier was killed and another six were wounded as a result of enemy shelling," the press center of Ukraine's Joint Forces Operation Headquarters said in an update posted on Facebook as of 07:00 Kyiv time on February 19.
The enemy engaged Ukrainian troops with proscribed 152mm and 122mm artillery systems, 120mm and 82mm mortars, tank weapons, cannons installed on infantry fighting vehicles, grenade launchers of various types, heavy machine guns, and small arms.
Under attack came Ukrainian positions near the town of Popasna, and the villages of Berezove, Shyrokyne, Pyshchevyk, Krymske, Novotoshkivske, Orikhove, Khutir Vilny, Zolote-4, Luhanske, and Novoluhanske.
In addition, the enemy attempted to storm the Ukrainian observation posts near Orikhove. Ukrainian defenders suppressed enemy fire and forced the enemy sabotage and reconnaissance group to retreat. Ukraine ultimately lost no ground in the area. The enemy requested a ceasefire, the report says. According to intelligence data, four invaders were killed and another six were seriously wounded as a result of the clash.
"Since Wednesday midnight, Russia-led forces have attacked Ukrainian positions near the village of Lebedynske, using 82mm mortars, grenade launchers of various types, heavy machine guns, and rifles," the update said.
No casualties were reported among Ukrainian troops Wednesday morning.
