Ukraine reports 1 WIA amid 10 truce violations by enemy forces in Donbas over past day
Russian-led forces in eastern Ukraine's Donbas over the past day violated ceasefire ten times, according to the Joint Forces Operation Headquarters in Kyiv.
The enemy engaged Ukrainian defense positions along the front line with 120 mm and 82 mm mortars, proscribed by the Minsk Agreements, as well as grenade launchers of various types, UAVs, heavy machine guns, and small arms.
"Four shellings were recorded in the zone of responsibility of the Skhid [East] tactical grouping, namely: near the settlements of Shyrokine and Hnutove, where the enemy dropped VOG-17 grenades from UAVs; and near Avdiyivka, where the enemy attacked twice, using MANPADs, heavy machine guns and small arms.
The enemy carried out six attacks in the "Pivnich" [North] tactical grouping's zone, including: next to Orikhove, where the enemy mortared our troops for five minutes using 120 mm launchers; near Zaitseve (four 82 mm mortar mines); near Vodiane (four 82 mm mortar mines and four shots from an easel anti-tank grenade launcher); in the area of Novoluhanske, Luhanske, and Mayske (grenade launchers of various types, large-caliber machine guns, and small arms," the press service wrote.
It is noted that Russian-controlled forces, neglecting international humanitarian law, opened fire on an ambulance vehicle with the Red Cross marking. They dropped two VOG-17 grenades onto the vehicle from UAVs.
"Yesterday, on March 9, one Ukrainian defender sustained combat injuries amid enemy shelling," the report says.
