Shyrokyne under intensive fire on Wednesday evening
Russian-backed militants opened fire on the positions of Ukrainian troops in the village of Shyrokyne near the Ukrainian-controlled city of Mariupol on Wednesday evening, according to Press Officer of the M sector Yaroslav Chepurny, Mariupol's city portal 0629 reported.
The enemy was first to open the fire, and Ukrainian troops used small arms in response.
The Azov Battalion's press service reported that after a two-day truce, militants opened fire on Ukrainian troops at about 1945 Kyiv time on Wednesday, June 24. They have been shelling the Ukrainian positions with the use of 120mm-caliber mortar launchers and heavy weaponry, namely artillery systems and howitzers whose caliber is 152 mm.
The press center of the Anti-Terrorist Operation earlier reported that militants' activity along the entire line of contact in eastern Ukraine decreased on Wednesday; however, the ceasefire in Donbas was violated by illegal armed groups more than 10 times.
