Ukraine's Embassy in Iran has commented on the versions of the Ukraine International Airlines Boeing 737-800 crash near Tehran airport, saying a terror attack and a missile hit have so far been ruled out.
Preliminary reports pointed to an engine failure as a result of technical issues, the embassy said in the statement.
UPDATE: In the edited report, the paragraph ruling out a terror attack and a missile hit has been cut out. Instead, the updated report says: "Information on the causes of the plane crash is being verified by the commission. Any statements regarding the causes of the accident prior to the decision of the commission are unofficial."
"On January 8, 2020, at about 6:00 Tehran time (around 4:30 Kyiv time) after takeoff from Imam Khomeini Tehran Airport, a Boeing-737 flight PS752 of the Ukrainian International Airlines, bound for Kyiv, crashed," the report said.
Diplomats are now verifying data on no-show passengers and identifying Ukrainian citizens among victims.

Nine crew members were all Ukrainian nationals, it has been confirmed.
"All passengers and crew died," the report said.
The embassy is actively engaged in clarifying the circumstances of the crash and in the formalities associated with this. Ambassador of Ukraine to Iran, Serhiy Burdilyak, is at the crash scene.
