Russia sends warship from occupied Crimea to Mediterranean
Russian Navy’s Admiral Grigorovich frigate, equipped with Kalibr cruise missiles, will be sent to the Mediterranean Sea, Liga.net reports citing a report by Russian defense ministry’s newspaper Krasnaya Zvezda with reference to Admiral Alexander Vitko, commander of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation.
Liga.net notes that the frigate has earlier been involved in Russia’s Syria campaign in support of Bashar al-Assad’s forces.
"Currently, submarines Veliky Novgorod and Kolpino are carrying out missions in the Mediterranean, while the Admiral Grigorovich frigate is being deployed there as well," Vitko said.
The Admiral Grigorovich has carried out numerous missile strikes on Syria before returning to the navy base in Sevastopol, Russian-occupied Crimea.
