The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the world exceeded 16.4 million patients as of July 28.

As many as 16,489,485 laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 cases had been reported as of 09:35 on July 28, according to the Coronavirus COVID-19 Global Cases dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University.

The overall death toll is 654,169 people, while 9,581,047 coronavirus patients have already recovered.

The highest death toll was recorded in the United States (148,056 people), Brazil (87,618), the United Kingdom (45,844), Mexico (44,022), Italy (35,112), India (33,408), and France (30,212).

The countries most affected by the coronavirus pandemic include the United States (4,294,770 confirmed cases), Brazil (2,442,375), India (1,480,073), Russia (816,680), South Africa (452,529), Mexico (395,489), Peru (389,717), Chile (347,923), and the United Kingdom (301,708).

As many as 188 countries have been affected by the virus.
