It is with great disappointment that the Ukrainian Canadian community in Alberta learned that President Yushchenko will not be visiting Edmonton during his upcoming visit to Canada later this week.  His stops will include Ottawa, Toronto and Winnipeg only.  Alberta is currently Canada`s most dynamic province with a large Ukrainian Canadian population which first immigrated to Canada beginning in the 1890`s and has as its premier the only Ukrainian Canadian premier in the country.  Alberta is the centre of the energy industry in Canada and its agricultural industry was largely developed by Ukrainian settlers.  Alberta has earned a place of prominence in Canada for many years and it is fitting that the President of Ukraine make visiting Alberta a priority.
