12th French Spring festival opens with light show on Kyiv's St. Sophia Square
The 12th annual French Spring, a festival of French culture, opened with an outdoor light show on Kyiv's Saint Sophia Square on April 4. The show was performed by Spectaculairs Allumeurs d'Images.
The festival opened with an outdoor light show, entitled "I Am a Dream" ("JE SUIS RÊVE") The 20-minute program drew inspiration from Martin Luther King Jr.'s iconic "I Have a Dream" speech during the American Civil Rights Movement.
The façades of the bell tower and main building of the Kyiv-based Saint Sophia's Cathedral were used to show pictures and images of the key events and symbols of the Revolution of Dignity, which took place in Ukraine late in 2013 – early in 2014, and other important, history-changing developments in Ukraine in the past year. The festival will continue until April 29.
