The protesters spent the night in their cars in the government quarter. Today they will demand that the parliament adopt a draft law on affordable customs clearance for cars: EUR 50 for a three-liter engine, and EUR 100 for engines with greater displacement, the Ukrainian TV news service TSN said.
The protesters said they would not leave the government quarter until the parliament took a favorable decision.
According to Google maps, traffic near the buildings of the Verkhovna Rada and the Cabinet of Ministers (Hrushevskoho Street and some adjacent streets) is almost blocked.
As UNIAN reported earlier, on Thursday, Ukrainian lawmakers are expected to consider a draft law on customs clearance of imported used cars in the second reading. The Verkhovna Rada offers a 50% discount on customs clearance of such cars. The rate is proposed to be reduced to 25% for customs clearance within the following 30 days.
