Carpathian foresters have chosen the main Christmas tree of the country, according to Ukraine Today.

The tree is 80 years old and 26 meters high.

It will be transported from Zakarpattia region to Kyiv and erected at Sofiyivska Square on Saturday, December 3.

The record-high tree was spotted last year, but it could not be stumped because of harsh weather conditions.

This year, special transport for the tree arrived from Kyiv. The spruce is one meter higher than the previous one. Its lower branches spread up to seven meters. In order to get closer to the tree, the foresters have made a wide cut-through. A special platform together with a crane drive as close as is possible. The route of the Christmas spruce can be followed at an online map on our Facebook page.
