"On average more than 130,000 people a day have passed over our borders over the last month. In the last day more than 145,000 people crossed the Ukrainian border," said Nazarenko, according to an UNIAN correspondent.
However, he did not say whether he thought the holding of the early parliamentary elections in Ukraine was the reason for the increase in the number of people entering the country.
"Not everyone said that he was going to vote. But today, a lot of people have said that they were going to vote in the elections," Nazarenko said.
He also said that the State Border Service could provide accurate data on the movement of people across the Ukrainian border on election day no earlier than 2000 on Sunday, October 26.
On the eve of the elections, the State Border Service said that it had not recorded any serious violations of the border regime ahead of polling day.
