Kazakhstan bans sites for recruiting fighters for Donbas

Kazakhstan has blocked Internet sites that were recruiting country’s citizens to participate in fighting in Ukraine, according to information agency Novosti-Kazakhstan, with reference to the General Prosecutor's Office of Kazakhstan.


"In compliance with the instructions of the General Prosecutor's Office, the Committee on Communication, Informatization and Information of the Ministry of Investment and Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan has blocked access to video materials, containing signs of propaganda/justification of terrorism, as well as online resources calling for participation in combat operations in the territory of Ukraine," the department reported.

At the same time, it is noted in the publication that despite it being a crime to travel to other countries to fight, with punishment of up to seven years in prison envisaged by the law), volunteer fighters from Kazakhstan continue to travel to conflict zones in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, and Ukraine.
