"After [Russian President Vladimir] Putin attacked the country, the number of weapons [in Ukraine] has increased, [and they are] also being used against civilians,” Heraschenko said.

“Unfortunately, the overall crime situation in the country is alarming , due to the fact that there are a significant number of persons coming from the Donbas. What I mean is that criminal elements do not like living under the rule of the militants. They flee either to Russia or other parts of Ukraine."

Heraschenko said the Interior Ministry has stepped up its monitoring of movements of weapons and ammunition.
