Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko says Ukraine Parliament's Ombudsperson Lyudmyla Denisova has gone to Russia to visit Ukrainians illegally imprisoned by the Russian authorities.

"In pursuance of my arrangements, Lyudmila Denisova is going to Russia right now, to visit the illegally detained Ukrainians. I asked her to express our support to them," Poroshenko tweeted on June 13.

"Ukraine and the entire democratic world are with you. We will definitely bring all our people back home," he added.

As UNIAN reported earlier, on June 9, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko spoke by phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss the issue of exchanging detained persons.

It is noted that an agreement has been reached for ombudspersons of both countries to visit Russian nationals who are imprisoned in Ukraine and Ukrainian citizens detained in Russia.
